About
The field house is located between the Snow Center and Sailing Club docks, angled to capture sunlight on both horizontal facades at sunrise and sunset. This orientation enhances views and creates dynamic shadows. Positioned near a preexisting path, the building ensures quick and easy access for users.
Task
The goal of this field house design was to seamlessly integrate it with the natural surroundings. Inspired by Kengo Kuma's Horai Onsen Bath House, I minimized walls and designed columns to mimic the upward shape of surrounding trees. The walls are set deeper within the structure to avoid clear-cut boundaries, creating a more immersive experience. Using wood enhances the sensory connection to nature through smell, sight, and touch.
OUR STUDENTS RESEARCH WORK
This research explores the evolution and technical design of architectural drawing tools, focusing on precision, functionality, and their impact on modern drafting practices. The project examines their transformation through a grid-based analysis, emphasizing structural balance and innovative usability.
CASE STUDY REGION
Port Royal, Jamaica
Maracas Bay, Trinidad
